Perfumes have a unique way of making people feel happier and more content. Their fragrance acts directly on the pleasure centers of the brain and releases chemicals that create a sense of security in our bodies. That is why no one can resist the charm of perfumes and no one can escape their enticements.

Perfumes make an ideal gift for nearly all people, the only exceptions being those allergic to essential oils. Perfumes are one of the few personal products both men and women use and thus they make a great gift for both sexes. The only thing standing in the way of this perfect gift is its price. With an average price of about $60 to $150, perfumes do not come cheap. When they do, they usually do not have the class and grace of the expensive ones. These perfumes are strong and musty and cannot be worn for everyday use. The bigger the brand, the higher the price and the higher the price the more exclusive a perfume is. Exclusive perfumes such as No. 5 from Chanel or Hermes' 24 Faubourg are currently priced at over $1500. In the coming years, their price is slated to increase.

Of course, these prices represent just a small section of the perfumes available in the market. Most other perfumes, made from natural plant extracts or synthetic fragrances are generally far cheaper. The real trick to finding a perfume that will be loved by the recipient is to find a scent that turns them on. Perfumes are broadly divided in to eight families based on the way the work on the olfactory senses. These are floral, chypre, aldehydic, fougere, leather, woody, oriental, and citrus. Each group has characteristics that make them favorable to certain personalities. For instance, woody fragrances are generally liked by people of refined tastes and formal attitudes. Following this sort of a guide, people can spend minimally, yet please everyone with perfume gifts.
