Computers help us in our daily lives; they make our life so much easier. That is why we should treat them as our friend. But are you caring for them just like the way you treat your friend? Computers are always there to help you everyday just like what your friend would normally do. Why not give back a fraction of that back to your computers? In fact that fraction won't just make your computers happy; it will also make you more productive. A computer that is properly maintained works fast and error-free.
Giving your computer a proper maintenance won't take more than 2 hours. This is a small amount of time if you compare it to the time being wasted while waiting for your computer to load. Here is a complete give to optimize your computer's performance.
The first thing you should do is to uninstall all the applications that you no longer need. Check your desktop or the start menu for the files that are of no use to you. These files are eating up spaces in your hard disk and will accumulate causing your computer to slow down. After removing the programs the next thing you should do is delete the files that you no longer need; the movies, music, pictures, and documents. These files, although eats up small amount of space in your desktop will accumulate over time and soon your computer will have its own "junkshop". After removing all the programs and files you don't need, clean your recycle bin and restart your system.
After the start-up perform a system scan using your anti-virus. If your anti-virus didn't find an infection proceed to the next step. If your anti-virus detects an infection or a malicious file, try to clean it first or delete it from your system. A single malicious file can infect other files and soon your computer as a whole will be infected. After cleaning or deleting infected files restart your system.
The next thing you should do is to scan your computer with wares infection by using a program that deals with malwares, spywares, and adware. Most anti-virus can detect these files but it is advisable to have a separate program that will handle this area of infection. Scan your whole system and fix or remove all the detected files. Restart your system after this method.
The last part of our maintenance is the removal of all the traces left behind by the files deleted from the previous operations. You can do this by having a registry cleaner. All the files that were placed in your computer inserts a file called registry key inside the registry base. Anti-viruses and anti-wares cannot go deep through the registry database so they cannot fix these problems. A registry cleaner will remove all the traces in your registry database. This will also fix all the errors in your system and will bring your computer back to life. Restart your system to start the registry database in a clean state. Enjoy your computer's maximum performance.
