Born on June 17, 1971 in Mexico City, Paulina Rubio Dosamantes is a famous Mexican singer and actress.
Dosamantes achieved international fame through her fifth album titled "Paulina" which was released in 2000. She sold more than 200 million copies of album and has received several awards both in acting and singing fields. She is listed by Billboard Magazine as the seventh most successful Latin Pop Song Artist of the Last Decade. In addition, she was also received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album through her "Gran City Pop."
Her single "Causa y Efecto" from her "Gran City Pop" album reached the number one spot on numerous radio stations around the world including Latin American countries, Mexico, Aregntina, Colombia, United States, and Spain. It also reached the number one place on Hot Latin Tracks of U.S. Billboard.
As the daughter of a Mexican actress Susana Dosamantes and lawyer Enrique Rubio, Dosamantes was quoted as saying "I have been famous since I was born." She and her brother Enrico grew up in Mexico City, in Distrito Federal. At an early age of five, Dosamantes started taking up acting, singing, dance, jazz, and painting lessons. On April 30, 1982, at only ten years old, Dosamantes started her career performing for Timbiriche, a children's pop group. Through her group, Dosamantes recorded a total of 11 albums. While an active member of the group, she starred in television through Televisa. She made her first starring role in TV in 1988 as Paulina Montenegro, the villain in "Pasion y Poder."
Several years after, Dosamantes made it in entertainment industry and is nicknamed "The Queen of Latin Pop". On April 30, 2007 in Xcaret park on Mayan Riviera in the city of Cancun, Dosamantes married Nicolas Vallejo Najera, a Spanish PR executive.
