Professor Barrett began the session with greetings, then Lawrence took over, citing historical data about Asiatic slaves dwelling in Egypt, and about a "Moses" referred to by Egyptian historians Eusebies and Artapanus, who lived a thousand years after him, in the 300 BC era, "Most records," said Lawrence, "are from the library at Alexandria - that there was an Egyptian prince Mouses who led a military campaign against Ethiopia. There is also much archaeological data about a slave Semitic people," he continued, using the desired power point format:
- "An Austrian dig of dwellings and tombs at Tel-ed-Daba, Egypt, in 1989, found ancient cities near Goshen. Data from 800 drill cores gave evidence of a large number of Asian, non-Egyptian slaves; eleven levels at the site indicate there were many generations - during the 12th to the 13th Egyptian dynasties, which are compatible in length and time period to the Biblical history of the Hebrew sojourn, and as slaves in Egypt)."
- "There's also a 1966 Austrian Archaeological research dig at Tel-ed-Daba which confirms the existence of a people with 'distinctly Israelite origins' between the 14th and 12th centuries BC, which match the period of the Hebrew Exodus and conquest of Canaan."
- "Then there's the Brooklyn Papyrus 35.1446, which tells of the reign of Pharaoh Sobekhoten; it contains over 95 names of slaves - more than half are Semitic, and seven are actual Biblical names. Really remarkable is the fact that one of the two midwives named in the Bible - 'Shiphrah' is included."
- "Then there is archaeological evidence of Asiatic-type, clearly non- Egyptian, culture, including Hebrew-type houses."
- "There's also an 18th dynasty mural painting of non- Egyptian-Asian slaves having semitic features, actually building mud-bricks from straw."
- "Also. cuneiform tablet-letters have been found in archaeological digs such as at Tel Amarna in Egypt, discoveries of the 14th to the 12th century BC. These include the well-known Pharaoh Merenptah's boast, 'Israel is laid waste', dated at 1210 BC, which confirms the presence of Israelites in lands north-east of Egypt."
- "And in direct conformity with the Bible - regarding the killing of male Hebrew babies - the saving of baby Moses," Lawrence continued, " was the discovery of unusual demographic burial data at Tel-ed-Daba - 65% of the graves were of babies less than 18 months old, compared to a normal percentage of 20-30%. Appropriately, there were far more graves of adult females than of males, which conforms to male babies being killed at birth. Then, the story of baby Moses, floating on the Nile and saved by an Egyptian princess - Egyptian data tell of an adult Moses."
- "There is also the record of slaves building monuments in Egypt - Papyrus, Leiden #348, 'Distribute grain to the Habirus, or Hebrews, who carry stones to the great pylon of Rameses,'"
- "Regarding the military leaderm Mouses," said Lawrence, "the Roman historian, Josephus, as well as a stela fragment in the British Museum, also indicate such a leader during Pharaoh Khenepres-Sobekhotep's reign. Also supporting Mouses' military campaign, is a statue of Sobekhotep, found on the island of Argo, establishing that Egyptian conquest and authority extended at least 200 kilometers from Egypt. Egyptian historians wrote that Mouses' fame caused Sobekhotep to target him, and forcing Moses to flee to Midian - just as in the Bible story, however, the Bible and Passover Haggadah say the cause was Moses killing an Egyptian slave- driver."
- "Finally," said Lawrence, "The Pharaoh of the Exodus is identified as King Dudimose, 36th ruler of the 13th Dynasty. In the Bible he is described as, 'Pharaoh who knew not Joseph'"
The subject for the next session was decided on - the Ten Plagues of the Exodus, Ranah to be Presenter.
