Anytime people are blindfolded and given directions to wildly swing a bat at a moving object there is sure to be fun, and even more so when that pinata is a rather random addition to a given party. Costume items are also great, and you could easily do a twist on a white elephant gift party by having everyone bring some ugly costume item, which would have to be worn by whoever ended up with it.
