Parent Effectiveness Training And Positive Parenting Tips You Will Need To Improve Your Situation!

Expert Author Paul R Donahue

Parent effectiveness training is a hugely popular topic these days. It is a catchy phrase, but, do you know why you are in need of it? Read along to see that, if you are a parent in need of parenting help, you can gain hugely by learning some positive parenting tips. Much of the reason for this is, many of the parenting techniques people use these days, only add to the problem!

Let's start off by making this important distinction. There are two very different schools of thought on parenting. One believes in discipline and all that comes with that, and the other doesn't. This article deals with the other type which is based in unconditional love and understanding.

I just wanted to make that important point because many parents don't believe that this style of parenting can be effective. Well, let me tell you that it can. Matter of fact, there are a lot of experts that believe that any time you increase fear, which yelling and screaming surely does, you cause a lot more damage.

However, it's important to note that, increased stress causes extra cortisol to be admitted to the brain. This, subsequently, causes bad behavior because a child can then become dis-oriented. There is much more to know about cortisol, but, for the purpose of this article, we'll just say that the increases in cortisol production can have negative short term, and long term consequences.

This is why this article deals with positive parenting, which can be learned through parent effectiveness training. In other words, the old forms of child discipline were not working, and there are definite reasons why they weren't. However, when you change things significantly, especially when you are dealing with children, there will be a period of adjusting that will take place. In other words, if there used to be a lot of yelling and screaming, and you decide to try to get away from all of that, you will need all the parenting help and techniques you can use. However, once the adjustment period is over, it can be smooth sailing!

In the long run, it is being found that extra love and concern go a long way. In other words, there's not too much unconditional love that can be given to your children. There is not too much patience and tolerance you can have when dealing with them. And there sure are times that lots of those are needed.
