Pakistan and India in a Cold War in a Region Which is Heating Up - No Not Global Warming

Expert Author Lance Winslow

There are entirely too many nations wielding their nuclear weapons around and threatening their neighbors. A modern day psychologists might say this is highly toxic behavior, but if any of them ever carry out such a threat, it's going to be more toxic than you can imagine and for a lot longer than you think. It isn't only the initial blast - it is decades of poisoned land, birth defects, and horrific memories. At least that's what history reminds us. We don't need to repeat it.

This nuclear weapons threat needs to stop. Whereas, some nations have argued that they need nuclear weapons as a deterrent, it appears far too many have them pointed at each other, almost as if they are also there to serve as offensive weapons. Then the whole issue of pre-emption plays out, as first strike does have superior advantages and could prevent the other side from launching or prevent a large number of those defensive weapons from being fired in retaliation.

Not long ago, I was discussing this with an acquaintance, and then I went online and read a very to-the-point article on the challenges of India and Pakistan, both nuclear powers and both pointing nuclear weapons at each other. No one needs that potential eventuality, at least I hope I never see it in my lifetime, that's just far too many humans who'd lose their lives or be drastically affected.

The Middle East ramp up in weapon sales is quite alarming as the article also mentioned. Yes! It is amazing the amount of spending on military weaponry between these two nations, and rather scary considering that they each have nuclear weapons pointed at each other! And considering China on the other side of the mountains it could get interesting in the future.

In fact, I've been concerned with the potential water disputes and the challenges in Kashmir - both sides. And the US well we are in Afghanistan and dealing with the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan, meanwhile Iran is a problem and look what's happening Kyrgyzstan. The last thing we need is two nations pointing their arsenals of nuclear weapons on top of rockets at each other, that's just completely unhealthy behavior. The world needs to grow up!

Now then, I'd like you to consider this and think on it, see if any of this bravado, or insanity makes a lick of sense to you, because it doesn't from where I am sitting. Something needs to change.
