Paint is a key element for every players. Gun ammunition comes in many colors. The balls are made of water soluble gel that washes out easily. Look for brands that break upon impact, not in the marker before firing.

When guns are not enough, try using grenades. These come in different sizes and can be lobbed in the direction of the opponent to splatter them without a direct hit on their body. This is especially helpful for slower shooters up against those that move quickly. Great aim is not necessary to lob a grenade over a barrier or bush.

Mines can be used two different ways. In one method, they can be tied to a stake on one end and used as a trip mine, splattering paint from latex tubing. They can also be used as a pull mine by nailing it to a tree and having it explode near an unsuspecting enemy.

In order to get better, paintball players should practice until they know what they are doing if they wish to be competitive and successful. Improving aim is a key to taking out opponents. Practice target nets help hone shooting and lobbing skills for beginners and ruthless competitors alike. These are usually made from nylon.

Carrying ammunition can be a challenge during a game. Put paintballs in specially designed tubes or pods usually made from plastic. Multiple tubes can be loaded into a sack with easy access. Other options for multiple pod transport while keeping the hands free for combat include vests with pockets specifically designed for the tubes, and strap-on packs that don't restrict arm movement. Other models trap to the legs, leaving room for a backpack or over-the-shoulder harness to carry more ammunition or other supplies.

In organized paintball, teams with regular members play against each other. To determine who is on which team, arm bands are used. These are colored strips of material, usually tied on between the elbow and shoulder, which identify players without team uniforms by color.

Apparel specially made for sustaining paint attacks without getting injured or completely covered in paint are available online, in pro shops and in specialty stores. Vests resembling flak jackets are one way to stay both safe and clean. Paintball pants are made with special padding to soften paint hits or blows from landing on the ground or floor during combat.
