Pain - The Good and the Bad

One sustains life the other brings death As you age you are going to have pain. Whether from sitting in front of the TV eating potato chips and drinking soda or from working out and being active. But if you have to hurt, why not hurt from something that's going to help you instead of slowly destroy you. Never exercising will slowly destroy you day by day.

Little aches and pains will slowly show up in your life and eventually take you over. They will rule your life like the plague and you will be miserable. You will spend all your time running back forth to doctors and the pharmacy, and that's not a good way to live. Now on the flip side of that you have the pains of working out to get fit. You will be very sore to start out with. To minimize this soreness you need to move into it slowly and see how your body is going to respond. Each work out you can add a little more reps and sets and needed. If you don't have weights, get a set of dumbbells to start out with and a cheap bench. This is what I call the good kind of pain, but this pain is temporary and it's usually in the form of a little muscle soreness which turns into muscle tone and strength as you continue to work out.

This kind of pain will build you up as opposed to the couch potato do nothing kind of pain which will tear you down. How do I know? After being out of work for 7 months I found out first hand just how much exercise I had been getting from working 8 hours a day. I developed pains in places I didn't know existed. I lost all my flexibility and could hardly bend over to pick anything up.

So I decided to get back into working out. I may have to age and get old but I don't have to be old and weak. I can be the best and the strongest old guy that I can be. So remember when you're working out you're doing something good for yourself, something that will last and give you a good return on your investment and you will feel good about your looks too. You'll never get that from watching the price is right with a box of Twinkies If you have to hurt you may as well benefit from it and get strong doing it. The choice is yours the Good pain or the Bad.
