No matter how pretty and colorful a web design is, if it does not adhere to these practices, only celebrity status or big brand names might bring some visitors. Let us look at what "off page optimization " implies.

Page Optimization Factors.
It is the way a web page is constructed. Taking into account essential and desirable practices with the intent of making the web site more visible to the search engines when Google need to find relevant sites that match a searchers request.

Niche research and decisions around a chosen keyword/s, is a pre-requisite before any site construction should commence. This was dealt with in part 3. The identified keywords must translate into the "off page " and "on-page" design criteria called optimization.

First consider the "off-page" criteria.
We cannot actually view this unless we right click on a web site in the browser and view page source. Situated in the head of a web site is the "Page Title" Keyword rich it is the also referred to as the clickable text or Anchor text that appears as the blue text. This text is normally between 10 and 60 characters long.

The Page Title should denote what the website is about. Smart web designers and optimization specialists will ensure that all pages of a website are optimized in this way. In fact visitors expect to find that the page title is a very relevant indication of the actual on page content visible to the human reader. Beneath the Page Title we will find the Description meta tag.

This text also appears in the search result just below the blue clickable should provide enticing information to the searcher and is an opportunity to provide a snap shot of what the web site is about. This text is normally between 150-220 characters long. What is important that this text must have relevance to the search engine like Google to meet searchers information needs. The Meta Description text should also contain at least one keyword phrase.

The last of the meat tags are the Meta Keywords that seem to have devalued in importance with Google's search algorithms, but still carry relevance with some search engines. For a little effort, do not nit-pick; enter Meta keywords relevant to the page content and the niche... In Fact many SEO specialists believe that to provide these meta keyword tags can still provide some search juice with some of the search engines, but care should be taken not to overdo it and should not be more than 6 keyword phrases per page.

Any decent web designer has to take account and keep these principles in mind when putting your site together. Knowledge is great and may just help you to better appreciate and evaluate your chosen web design company en ensure proper site construction.
