Manipulate PacMan, the yellow ball with the big mouth, through the maze and eat all the dots and prizes (fruits) as you avoid the ghosts. There are larger dots (energizers) scattered along the maze paths and if you swallow one, you can also gobble the ghosts.

You have to be quick though, as you are given only a short time before the energizer's powers wane and you will be forced to avoid the ghosts again. These ghosts were named Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde. When a ghost is eaten, its eyes will go back to their base and wait to be resurrected to a new ghost. Once all the dots and are eaten, you advance to the next level which will be more difficult.

Your goal in this game is to finish all 256 levels with high points and without losing a life. This game is quite simple compared to other arcade games however this goal is very hard to attain.

PacMan video games were first played in Japan in 1979 but became very popular when it was released in the US. One reason for its popularity is its lack of unnecessary violence as compared to other arcade games of its time.

Players are content to squeal from time to time when the yellow PacMan is about to be eaten and shout for joy if they are able to elude the ghost. This is a game that everybody can play. It is one of the best.
