Our Thoughts Are Under Our Control, Aren't They?

If our thoughts are under our control then we are in in charge of our results.
I was pondering on this recently and thought that sometimes the opposite is demonstrated in our lives. We do not always control our thoughts. Examples of this are habits, attitudes and beliefs that we allow to form which dictate to us our results.
For example some people have a belief that they can't earn more than their Dad does. The result of this belief is that it may limit that person's income earning potential. Think how this may apply to any area of life - weight, smoking, parenting, career success, sporting ability, study results.
There is a saying that we are not who we think we are, BUT, what we think, we are.
If we were to get a better feel for this concept, then we could picture a thermostat with a set temperature. This is like the belief that we have that we can only achieve to a certain level. When we achieve more than the setting on the thermostat our subconscious mind kicks in to cool things down, wind back results, tell us to ease off until we see the results come back to our belief level. Likewise when you underperform to your beliefs then the subconscious kicks in and says, Hey, getta move on, until things start to improve. But only up to the level of belief.
From this illustration, you might deduce that if you can reset the thermostat then you can also adjust the results that you see in you life.
BINGO! You are on to the solution already. Well done.
The trick is in resetting the beliefs that exist so that they support you in what you want. You know, this can be done more easily and more quickly than you think. If you've tried affirmations before you know that they can be pretty tiring as you repeat them over and over and over again with seemingly little headway.
Ideally, if you can create an impact upon the mind that reshapes the belief then you will be able to see instant, simple and lasting transformation. This is where the practical magic of NLP comes in. Using simplicity and the language of the mind you can see significant behavioural changes in short periods of time.
And isn't that what you want? You can enjoy more of what you want, sooner.
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
