The past 18 months has really been a pain for people who are constantly using their iPhone in the United Kingdom. Not only has there been horrible service from O2, the carrier who had the exclusive iPhone contract, but prices have been extremely high as well. That is why it is so great to hear that Orange is going to be selling the iPhone starting November 10th.
People who use their iPhone know how horrible the service has been across the United Kingdom. Despite O2 saying that they have some of the best reception across the U.K., they simply do not have a network that is fast enough to support the numerous iPhone's that are using the network. Instead, they often have service that drops calls or does not even allow for text messages to be sent. You want to be able to use every single feature of your iPhone, including the data functions! If you want to use the data function on your iPhone, you are going to need to look for an alternative to O2.
O2 has also not given its customers the best possible price on their monthly bill. Luckily, Orange has come to the rescue of customers across the United Kingdom and is offering a monthly tariff for under 30 pounds! You get 150 minutes of calling time as well as 250 text messages. This is twice as much talk time and text messages as you would get with a similar plan from O2. Another important part of the iPhone equation is the price of the mobile device itself. People do not want to pay hundreds of pounds simply for the device. Orange has realized this and are heavily subsidizing the cost of the iPhone to its users. If you sign up on a 24 month contract you can get 50 pounds or more off of the 16 GB or 32 GB iPhone. These are the type of customers that Orange wants to keep happy, and Orange wants you to be able to afford your bill as well!
Yet another important part of the iPhone coming to Orange is the price that you pay each month for service. Orange has worked very hard to get their price as low as it possibly can be. That being said, you are still going to be paying over 120 pounds a month for an unlimited plan. This plan offers users unlimited talk time, and text messages. However, there is a 750 MB limit on the data use per month. This is a serious problem for users that are going to want to constantly be online. If you want to try and tether your iPhone to your laptop so you can be mobile anywhere, you can go through 750 MB of bandwidth very quickly. You should check Orange's overage policies on data before you go through the limit. If you do not do your research ahead of time, you could be paying several hundred pounds of overage fees for your data usage.
