How Build an Opt-In List from Scratch

When you need to build an opt-in list that have no subscribers, and you want to jump start it from zero to zoom, follow the tips below.

(1) Create a Website with Lots of Content

Honey attaches flies and great content attaches interested web surfers. Write articles every chance you get and place them on your website or blog. Build up an inventory of useful and relevant information that the people can't help but to visit and read.

(2) Keep the Content Fresh

Although you should have a certain amount of "evergreen" information, articles that are timeless and that never needs updating, you should also write a good deal of current event stuff for your site as well. Updated and fresh content is "spider food" for the search engines' indexing programs called "spiders". The more frequently your page is indexed the more visitors you will bring in.

(3) Ask for Sign Ups!

Put up sign up forms on every page on your website. Encourage people to give you their name and email address in exchange for a free ebook, email course or video series.

(4) Use an Email Squeeze Page

Create a landing page so that once some adds in their name and email, you explain in detail all the benefits of being on the list and what kind of helpful information they will receive once they get your newsletter and of course, the link to their free ebook, etc.

(5) Write Articles

Write articles and submit them to ezine or email newsletter directories. Other email publishers and webmasters will visit the site and then either download and publish your article or simply read it and click through to visit your website. Include a nice resource box with your website URL clearly spelled out.

(6) Ask Others to Write for You

Look around and find webmasters with popular sites in a related niche markets. Ask them if they would be interested in write a few short articles for website in exchange for you writing a few articles for them. Or you can give them a review copy of your product and ask them for a testimonial or honest assessment of it for your site.

(7) Join a High Traffic Forum

Find a forum with high traffic that covers your market area and sign up. Once you understand how it is run, change your sig line to link back to your website and start posting helpful comments and answering questions. Once people realize how much you help others, they will naturally click on your link to visit your site.
