How important is sincerity to your success in your Internet marketing business... or for that matter, any venture in life?
Consider this statement:
"The key to success as a leader is sincerity; once you have learned how to fake that, you've got it made."
That's the advice that was given to me many years ago by my very first manager as I embarked on the beginning of what turned out to be a 23 year corporate career. While he made the comment at least partly in jest, his statement also reflected an underlying belief I've encountered many times over the past 25 years or more.
A lot of people seem to believe you really can fake sincerity... especially in the affiliate marketing and network marketing or MLM worlds.
Every day, I look at my inbox and I see a whole host of "wannabe marketers" -- and some pretty established marketers, too -- who are spewing faked sincerity and trickery in order to get me to open my email. As a marketer myself, I understand they are just looking to make an impression... but as a responsible marketer I also find myself very jaded towards their methods.
Attraction Marketing is about Being Real
One of the common buzz phrases that is mentioned so often these days in marketing circles is "attraction marketing". The premise of attraction marketing is that your customers and prospective customers will get to know, like and trust you when you take the time to just be yourself and share information with them in a sincere manner. It's a pretty simple concept and it's hardly revolutionary.
Yet, so many marketers continue to assume they can fake sincerity rather than just be real. If you step back for a moment, ask yourself what kind of impression do you suppose you are making when you send an email that says, for example, "About Your Order", or "Your Account Needs To Be Verified", or "About Your Commission", or "You Just Earned $100"?
These are all misleading subject lines and while you might think they are cute and serve the purpose of getting more people to open them, they undermine your attempt to be viewed as a serious marketer. As one friend I asked recently says, "When I get these emails, I know the guy sending them is an idiot. Why would I ever trust him? His approach is repulsing me, not attracting me."
Now contrast those emails with ones that convey genuine enthusiasm and straight forward subject lines. If the sender has actually built any kind of sincere relationship with you, there is a good chance you will open the email to see what he or she has to say. Think about your own email... are there specific people for whom you make a point of opening any email they send? What is it about them that is so compelling that you will read their emails while deleting all the others?
Chances are they have sincerely added value to you and have sincerely helped you. In other words, they haven't faked anything, but rather have been real. So the question for you is this: Are you faking sincerity in your online marketing activities or are you being authentic?
Stop faking sincerity. If you are ready to become a serious affiliate marketer, these powerful strategies will help you make real money with affiliate marketing even if you are a complete newbie. Click here now: http://www.bestaffiliatemarketingonline.com/
