Once Peaceful City, Jos

Expert Author Olaojoyegbe Bolarinwa

Oh Jos, Oh Jos, you reside in the continent of Africa, at the western part of it.
Your tabernacle is in in Nigeria.
You are the pride of the nation. An envy of other cities.
Peaceful as a dove and fresh like an olive tree, tender in sight.
The strangers sojourn in you, because nature has made you a home.
A home of evergreen plants, from shrubs to trees, waving their branches in the air.
A home for plains and mountains.
A home of refreshing breeze, which embracing in the nights and kisses in the days.
You are so full of life, for you are young. You are bright like the rays from the sunshine.
You are cool like the colours of the rainbow, until a blast was heard in you. I wish it was a bomb, for after its explosion it will stop, but it isn't so!.
Your plains lament and your mountains wail. They wail in agony. The voice of children are heard in your streets and the voice of mothers that bereaved their children.
Your streets are flooded with dead men.
You now stinks more than a decaying dead dog. You, once the pride of the nation!
Who would have done this to you, Jos?.
Who would have turned you upside down?
Who would have cast away your children to the other parts of the earth?.
I am sure it's an enemy, an enemy of your peace. But we will not keep quiet for you, Jos.
We will wail and wail, until the ears of someone mightier than the enemy, are tingle to our voice.
And rescue you by stilling the enemies, so that peace and joy are restored back to you.
