Steam is caused when cold air mixes with warm air. When you shower with warm water this process is what causes the steam and ends up causing condensation in your bathroom which in turns leads to wet walls and ceiling and mould and mildew. With a showerdome installed you will have a warmer, dryer bathroom and a healthier home.
When you install a showerdome your shower unit becomes an enclosed place. As no cold air is getting into the cabinet you will end up showering at a lower temperature thus saving on heating bills. As steam will no longer be an issue in your bathroom with a showerdome installed you will no longer need to use extractor fans in your bathroom which of course is powered by electricity and costs you money every time you turn it on.
If you tend to use a more traditional method of clearing steam from your bathroom such as opening windows you are essentially allowing heat from your home escape out the window. Given how expensive home heating has become in the last few years this is the last thing you want to do.
Condensation, mould and mildew caused from steam when showering does significant damage to your walls and ceiling. In the long-term you will have to redecorate your bathroom less often when the dome is installed.
Of course its also nice to look in a clean mirror after showering!
A Showerdome can be installed on an shower unit even those surrounded by three tiled walls. The domes come in 10 standard sizes suitable for square, oblong (rectangular), curved or triangular shaped showering units. All Showerdomes come with a trim (F rail) which is used to secure the Dome to the wall.
