Nintendo Wii Game Console Review

Nintendo Wii is amazingly simpler to handle when compared to the more complex console systems of PlayStation and Xbox. The controller is interestingly very similar to a TV remote, a dramatic change over the more conventional directional pads and sticks. The interface presented by Wii is easier to follow than its counterparts in the market, making it more popular among the masses.

The setting up of the console is quick and simple. It can be connected to your television using composite AV cables that come with the system. However, the drawback is that the cables do not support resolution of 480p or higher. Well, when you connect to an HDTV, you are obviously looking for some high-definition gaming. It is best to buy a separate component cable from the market to view Wii at a higher resolution.

With dimensions of 1.75x6.25x8.5, when placed horizontally, the console is smaller than expected and does not occupy much space. This enables you to move it around the house as desired. Place it next to your desktop or simply carry it next to the television. White is the only color that is available in the market. However, looking at the current trends, more colors are likely to hit the market in future.

512 MB internal memory space has been incorporated into the console itself. However, if you feel this isn't enough, you can upgrade it through the SD card slot. The option of SD card is much cheaper than the proprietary memory cards provide by other systems.

You can navigate Wii using Wii channels. The default channels include photo, message, weather forecast and news. Virtual Console titles as well as GameCube and Wii games can be accessed through the Home page, which is the default gateway for the console. The motion sensing feature is probably the best in Nintendo Wii and is provided in all Wii games. These and several other features make Nintendo Wii a complete multimedia system.
