Nintendo Wii Fit Balance Board - The Numbers Don't Lie

I have to admit, I am not one for the video game craze and the thought of incorporating a video game into my workout sessions just seemed plain silly. When I learned about the amount of systems sold with the Wii console, according to Christopher Hull of yahoo, an astounding fifty million since they hit the stores, even I took notice. I believe the makers of the Wii console have enjoyed tremendous sales is largely because they made it family friendly. There is something for everyone and in addition, if you want to get a workout the Wii Fit is available.

I researched about a particular device called the Wii board, which is part of the Wii Fit program. This board, created by Miyamoto Shigeru, also the Person behind the Super Mario and Legend of Zelda franchises, came from an idea of a household scale, according to Shigeru. This balance board came from Shigeru trying to develop something for his own weight management and that of his family.

According to the makers of the Nintendo Balance Board, it is intended to help with areas such as weight management through a series of exercises to improve strength, balance, weight tracking, and alignment, through cardio workouts that are also supposed to be fun. In addition, if the exercises and not done properly and you are merely tapping your feet on the board it will indicate it to you.

Sometimes I look at children who play sports and just play around and think, they do not know it but they are actually exercising and burning calories. I believe that is the idea Shigeru had when he created the Nintendo Balance Board, a way to get a good workout while having fun at the same time. If you asked my if, I felt you would get the same results as, lets say working out with the P90X system I would definitely say no, and I do not believe it was created for that purpose. The purpose behind this balance board was for family to get fit while at the same time having fun together. I also believe that having fun together while exercising on this board or by yourself is the thing that will motivate you to continue using it especially if you feel you are not "actually" working out. I believe that you get out of anything what you put into it and just like any piece of workout equipment the Nintendo Balance Board can help you get in shape if you work at it.
