Newsletter Layout

The newsletter layout is just as important as any other element of the newsletter. Some publishers think that all that matters in a newsletter is its content. Therefore, they take no heed of the layout of their newsletters and the other components. This can actually have an adverse effect of the newsletter as a whole. By neglecting your layout, you risk putting off some of your readers. Some readers are the sort of people who judge things at face value.

In order to avoid losing readers this way, you can simply work on your newsletter layout. You do not have to have the best newsletter layout in the world, all you want is something that is good looking and well-organized. Most of newsletters have the two-column layout. This layout has been imported from websites. There are already thousands of websites using this layout. The two columns are of different sizes.

One column occupies one third of the whole area whereas the other column takes over the other two thirds. The smaller column functions as a sidebar. It is used for nesting an outline of the newsletter content. It can also contain some external links and newsletter publisher' contact details. The other column is where the main content lies. This includes the newsletter article, photos, etc. some publishers add a footer where they place their contact details instead of using the sidebar for this purpose.

It is important to note that the newsletter is not going to be displayed in a full browser window. It is actually displayed in the user's email pane which is smaller than a browser window. This should be taken into account when setting the dimensions of the newsletter. Otherwise, your newsletter's layout will get messed up when displayed in the pane. It is always recommended that you test your newsletter in an email client before dispatching it to your readers.
