The iPhone finally has a new home in the United Kingdom. Many users who have had an iPhone with O2 have realized that there is much left to be desired. Luckily, the iPhone is going to be sold on Orange starting on November 10th. Not only will this give users much better service, but it will allow them to purchase the iPhone at a lower price and with a new selection of service contracts.
O2 has had the iPhone exclusive contract carriage in the United Kingdom for the past 18 months. Not all users are too enthusiastic about having to deal with O2. Many users, especially in heavily populated areas such as London have experienced network failures due to the insufficient coverage by O2. Luckily, Orange has taken care of the problems that O2 has experienced ahead of time. They have launched new towers, increase the coverage of their 3G network across the United Kingdom and upgraded their network to make it ready for the increase in traffic.
People who enjoy their iPhone's often want to use it as much as possible. However, that can be an issue due to the data limits that many carriers imply on their users. For example, Orange has announced that they will have an "unlimited" plan for people who wish to purchase the iPhone. The plan will come with unlimited minutes and text messages, but only offer 750 MB of data a month. This could be a serious problem for power users or people who tether their iPhone to their notebook computer.
Another major controversial topic that people in the United Kingdom have been dealing with is the price of mobile phone service. It is not cheap to have your own mobile phone, and just basic service can be quite costly. However, Orange has announced that they will be subsidizing the cost of the iPhone for its users. They also will be offering a wide range of plans, for users who may not use their iPhone as much as some of the more powerful users. One of the lowest priced plans comes in at just under 30 pounds per month. This plan offers 150 minutes and 250 text messages on the Orange network. This is double what a similar plan on O2 would give you for the same price.
The most important thing to remember when you are shopping for your iPhone is to look for value. The best deals are going to come up with the long term contract and the larger sized iPhone. If you are able to, purchase a 16 GB or 32 GB version of the iPhone. They are not only going to be highly subsidized, but will allow you to carry more data with you on the go. Having the ability to watch a few movies or episodes of your favorite television programs on the go is a great feature of the iPhone! Do your research and do not get pulled into a plan that is not right for your iPhone usage.
