Do you like to cook?
What's that you say?
No?
OK, no worries. You're probably in the majority. But let me make one unusual suggestion for you that I know will help your small business marketing, and that is this: START COOKING and CHOPPING more --- including cutting carrots and potatoes.
Hold on a minute.
Am I crazy?
Have I completely lost it?
No, I haven't. And if you'll give me a few minutes of your time, I'll prove to you that cooking (even a little), especially preparing the food you're gonna eat will in fact help you attract more new customers to your small business.
Give a read and see for yourself.
New Customer Marketing Using a Brown Potato:
This may sound crazy but I get the best small business marketing ideas whenever I chop things like potatoes... carrots... cucumbers... celery... or any other cruciferous vegetable. What gives? Well, it's actually a scientific fact that your subconscious brain works better when you do activities that require little conscious thinking like cooking, or gardening, or cutting the grass, or washing the dishes, or playing video games.
Or whatever mindless activities you like to do.
Don't get me wrong here.
I don't mean to insult anyone who is a top cook. Cooking does require a lot of brain power to learn how to cook. But once you "got it" (much like many other activities) you don't have to think about doing it.
And for us small business marketers doing activities like this is when the BIG marketing ideas will coming shooting into your mind.
Take myself for example:
Whenever I need a big marketing idea, I'll make some kind of soup. Why a soup? Because it requires that you chop potatoes, carrots, onions and a host of other vegetables. And nine times out of ten, while I'm cutting away, I'll get a crazy-awesome marketing idea.
It happens almost every time.
And recently I started to laugh because it's like my brain and me are connected at the hip. My brain just wants some down time to work. And work it does.
To the tune of some monstrous small business marketing campaigns that have pulled in hundreds of thousands of dollar for myself, and a few select clients I write direct response campaigns for.
What's this mean for you?
A lot of things:
1. Find some hobby you like to do that does not require a lot of thinking.
2. Whenever you need a big marketing idea, go do your hobby.
3. Let your subconscious take over.
So there you have it.
A fool proof way to use brown potatoes to stimulate a ton of small business marketing ideas.
