Never Do This If You Want to Declutter Your Mind

Expert Author Arjen Ter Hoeve

Have you seen and heard the number of people who feel stressed? Every day is a struggle for them. They don't sleep well. They lose weight or gain many pounds. I believe the information they have to deal with is the biggest cause of this feeling. They can't seem to cope with all the information they have to deal with. This is because of their perception on their information. When you change the perception, the problem reduces or even goes away.

Since changing your perception is not easy for many people, there are some things you can stop or do different to reduce the mental clutter. Here are some things you have to continue doing when you don't want to manage your information properly.

Take on too many tasks

When you keep doing the many things that you are doing right now, you will see that it is easy to keep a cluttered mind. If you want to change this, you have to start saying NO to many requests and activities. You will see that when you do less, your head becomes clearer.

The 'trick' is to simplify your life. Do what you can do, make sure you don't do too much. Focus and become good in what you do. Doing this helps a lot (a whole lot). The reason is simple: when you are better in what you do, you won't feel stressed and you can do it without much thought.

Keep your desk unorganized

I love companies which have a clean-desk policy. They stimulate their employees to clean up their desk. This is not only good for the cleaners but also for the other employees. They are not distracted by the many papers, folders and other small things around them. This also applies to your computer desktop. Have few icons on your desktop. It will be easier to work when you are not distracted.

Do what you are doing right now

This is probably the biggest reason for cluttering your mind. When you do what you did, you continue to receive what you received. No change creates no improvement. Step out of your comfort zone. Experiment with your tasks and information. Sure, you may fail or mess up. That is life! Enjoy the little mess ups you make. They are all learning experiences.

Many people find it hard to fail. I did and often still do. I don't like it. What I do like about failing in something is that I learn to improve myself. Every failure is a lesson. In fact, when you continue to improve you can't call it failing. It is just a little bump on the road to success.

When Edison said he did not fail when he could not create the light bulb in 9999 tries he was right. He learned every time something that helped him move forward. When you allow yourself to fail like Edison, you will see that you move forward faster than you are doing right now, much faster!
