Facebook, Facebook, Facebook. It really does seem like everyone these days is talking about Facebook and how it has changed all of our lives. Who would have ever thought that a college project would turn into one of the busiest websites in the world with over 500 million users as of this writing?
And for the network marketer, Facebook can be an absolute goldmine for new leads for your business. Whether it be old friends or long-lost family members, more and more people you know are getting on Facebook everyday.
And then there's all the people that you don't know. The people that you might meet because of a business relationship, a shared interest, or maybe even some of your own work that they saw and came to find you on Facebook.
Facebook can be a great tool for you, but it can also be a big trap. If you're making any of the following mistakes, you're really not going to gain anything from spending anytime on Facebook and you might as well stop while your ahead.
Go ahead and take a good look at yourself and see if you're making any of these three mistakes and if you are, STOP! Turn things around now before it's too late!
Mistake #1 - You're spending all your time on Facebook building farms, waging mafia wars, or feuding with the family. Make no mistake, there's a ton of things to do on Facebook and it's easy to get distracted. And it's even OK to take a break every now and then, relax, and play a game or two. But when your entire existence is centered around building the biggest farm or catching a bigger fish, you've got your priorities mixed up. Focus on using Facebook to build your relationships and your business, not your gamer score.
Mistake #2 - Every link you put up on Facebook is about your business opportunity. This really is no better than sending a bunch of spam emails to people that didn't ask for them. Your friends and family and new contacts want to get to know you, not your biz opp. You can attract people to your business without flooding Facebook with a ton of links to your biz. Be real, build relationships, and really start focusing on attraction marketing and not aggravation marketing.
Mistake #3 - Tagging "gurus" in your videos just so people will watch them. If you know how Facebook works, you'll know that if you "tag" someone in a picture or video, they'll get a notification. What a sleazy way to try and get attention for yourself. Here's a hint: if the person isn't in the video, don't tag them in it! Get above this underhanded tactic, start making quality videos that contribute and help people, and then you won't have to worry about getting attention. You'll have all you'll ever need.
If you've been making any of these mistakes in your Facebook marketing efforts, I encourage you to take a second look and see what may really be happening in your network marketing business. Get your marketing strategy in place, build relationships with people, and soon you'll be attracting people to your business without all the hassle and stress that you've had in the past.
