Network Marketing PreLaunch Marketing - Lessons Learned

I recently have had the opportunity to work on building two companies from the ground up. One is a non-traditional MLM business. Our goal here was to focus on professionals within the field that we were targeting. The second one, my most recent venture, is more traditional MLM company.

Neither of these companies was fully operational when I started recruiting for them. In fact, the most recent company did not even have all of the products in place when they started enrolling representatives.

What I learned as I approached others about either of these companies is that I had to follow a very strict mindset in keeping my own excitement down and simply give the stories on the companies, ownership, etc.

The most important thing was not to "hype" these companies. Most people have seen the hype blasted all over the Internet, on television, radio, etc. They are sick of seeing promises of easy riches, so I knew I had to distance myself from that mentality as much as possible

What helped with that was the personal relationship I had with either company owners or the leadership that was in place for that company. In the second company, I have spent time, in person, with the company president and his wife. I know their character, their heart, and I knew what type of leaders they were.

Instead of talking about how everyone was going to be millionaires in their underwear from home, I simply talked about my admiration for the owners and the leadership team they brought with them. This built a lot of credibility with the company I was associating with.

The one mistake I made was taking the launch date at face value. As with any company, and both of the companies I have been working on building, launches can (and most likely will) be delayed. In my excitement, I communicated the launch date to many who had planned to join with me. What ended up happening is when the launch was delayed for a few days, those people become a little skeptical (and rightfully so).

If you plan on building in PreLaunch, learn from my knowledge and my mistake. It may make the difference between building a team successfully or struggling from the start.
