Network Marketing or more commonly known as multi level marketing has had a sour stigma over the years. The old model of making a names list and talking to everyone that you know worked really well 30 years ago. Some are even able to make it work these days. The industry as a whole has an attrition rate of 95%. If anyone had a traditional business where the attrition rate was so high, the business would soon be out of business.
The new model is a model of incorporating traditional marketing campaign ideas not formally affordable to the network marketer. With the uprise of the internet, the playing field has been leveled. This is done through the use of social marketing, the idea of co-mingling blogs, social bookmark sites, articles, Squidoo, Facebook, MySpace, etc....the list goes on and on. The goal here is to establish yourself as an expert or at least as someone that has something to offer another individual.
In doing so, you end up sharing a part of yourself. It can be a little scary and my intent of this article is to discuss the proper mindset required to prepare you for your journey into the new internet attraction network marketing model.
One of the first things that we are taught in the old model is to have proper mindset. For the record, I'm not bashing that method in anyway. It serves its purpose. A major focus of that mindset is to set you up to handle a whole lot of rejection and keep going. I would like to pause and give thanks to that training. Because of it, I have been very tenacious and that tenacity is what brought me to the new model.
The new model requires a whole different mindset. In this mindset, one has to learn to let go and trust that the high level of value that you provide will be perceived as such. You have to surrender your control to the belief that what you are doing is right.
Patience
It will take patience, post by post, article by article, to get your name out there will take some time. But once it is out there, each time you submit something new, you are adding to an already existing arsenal of credibility that has been established through your own continued efforts of web 2.0 marketing.
Don't be scared
Express yourself, after all you are makes you unique. Don't wait until things are perfect, just get your posts out there and improve with time. All the big hitters in any endeavor once were not. Everyone has a starting point, so stop worrying and start doing.
Don't give up!
Just keep going. Sometimes the learning curve can be a little greater with web 2.0 marketing, that's ok. You are learning a very valuable skill set that no one can ever take away from you. Remember, you can't eat an elephant all at once. But you can eat an elephant one bite at a time.
Trust You must have trust in your own ability and what you are doing. Believe in yourself and you will start to attract others to you that believe in you as well.
At the beginning of this article I mentioned that there was a much different mindset needed in the new model of network marketing. Now that I'm at the end of this article, I would like to reconsider that. The mindset that is required is pretty much the success mindset that is required regardless of what vehicle you choose to get you toward your goals. These are golden nuggets and old wisdom, applicable still in the new model. Keep your eye on the goal, no matter what life throws at you...adjust and overcome!
See you at the top!
