Most countries have their own national, state and government flags. National flags such as the United States flag are deep rooted in the history and development of the country. Many see it as symbol of freedom and pride in the United States. The symbols on the United States flag symbolize various things. The blue on the flag is believed to represent perseverance and justice. The white is believed to represent purity and innocence. The red is believed to represent hardiness and valor. The 13 stripes represent the 13 original colonies and the stars represent the number of states.
An example of a government flag would be the Homeland Security Flag. The Homeland Security department was created after then Twin-Towers Terrorist attack. The flag represents the United States dedication against terrorism. The flag boasts a blue background, like the United States flag most likely represents perseverance and justice. It has a coat-of-arms design that is usually used for executive office organizations of the President. The flag has an American Eagle in the center with a shield divided into three sections. The three sections show elements that represent the sky, land, and sea. It also has 22 stars in the sky portion of the shield that represent the 22 law enforcement and security forces that make up the Homeland Security Department.
Flags from all over the world have come to symbolize many things. Whether it is a symbol of freedom, tyranny, or peace, flags will continue to fly and provide inspiration to many.
