Morning Anxiety Is More Common Than You Think
Everybody is different. That's such a simple but accurate statement. And for some people, like us, waking up in the morning is unfortunately the most dreadful time of the day. I know I used to feel that way most mornings, I had what's called - morning anxiety.
It was horrible, and going to sleep at night wasn't much better because I knew that when I woke up in a few hours I was going to feel awful. This is what's called morning anxiety, and it's a type of panic disorder that's actually very common. At least 6 million Americans suffer from some type of anxiety disorder.
So, how do you get rid of this morning anxiety?
Well, thankfully there are many simple, natural things you can do!
- One of the most important things you can do is start an exercise program pronto. Exercise relieves stress in ways that nothing else can. Here is some advice on starting, if you're out of shape start slowly. Even just a ten minute walk can help, but definitely ramp up to vigorous exercise 3-5 times a week.
- Diet is another crucial factor. If you're eating junk you're going to feel like junk too. I'm not saying you have to be a diet saint, but go out of your way to eat your veggies and your fruits. And get as much lean protein as you can. These types of foods will create neurotransmitters in your brain which help you to relax.
- Taking supplements such as 5 htp, St. John's Wort, and Same are also very helpful. These can be a boost when you're feeling anxious. Some people need to take them for a while before they kick in, but give it a try.
