The first reason why internet marketers fail is their ignorance. They see gurus who show them their pictures on their boats, beautiful women, mansions and start thinking that "they can do it too, no problems". Not many people realize, that to achieve this success most marketers had to suffer and work real hard. Nowadays, it has become even harder to earn money as an affiliate marketer.

Another mistake that people make is that they do not try to gain extra knowledge. They do not want to know how:

a) To Maintain a website

b) People think

c) Search engines work

d) To build an email list

e) To write effective content

f) To Bring Traffic

Affiliate marketing is all about advertising a product. There are multiple ways of doing that and You need to learn at least some of them. There is Search Engine Optimization, Pay per click, Forum Marketing, Yahoo Answers, Article writing, Social marketing, Video Marketing, etc. All of these tools are great and can make you money.

The third mistake that people make is that they stuff their website with banners and do not provide real value to the customer. Your website should be 90 percent articles and 10 percent advertisements. Do not let people think that you are after their money. If you promote something, give the people a review of all of its features without giving everything away.

The fourth mistake that people make is that they promote only one product and think it is enough. It's not smart to put everything in one basket. I'm not saying you should promote hundreds of affiliate products, but 3-5 will do. Give people some alternatives.
