Marketing an E-Newsletter Or E-Zine Effectively

Expert Author Sandra S. Sea

Because of the loads of spam flooding the mailboxes each day, a negative outlook towards email marketing has been formulated by internet users. But for knowledgeable internet marketers, e-newsletters or e-zines can be a good means of reaching out to their potential clients. E-newsletters can play a very significant role in the email marketing drive for your business.

An e-newsletter is very much the same as printed newsletters. The only distinction lies in the mode of distribution. E-zines are exclusively distributed online while conventional newsletters are generally mailed out to the recipients or handed out in person. The body of the email message may contain the publication or a link may be given in the email so that the recipient will be directed to the website containing the e-newsletter.

An e-newsletter's content may differ depending on the nature of the business being promoted, the purpose of the publication and the business owner's preferences. But the common layout for an e-newsletter should include feature articles containing useful information that offers useful tips at the same time. An effective mailing should also have some promotion for the products or services offered. They should not make their advertising very obvious so that readers will be able to formulate their own judgment concerning the products or services being promoted.

The bulk of the document should be made up of the content. It may contain full length informational features for the readers' benefit. It may also offer advice, review products or offer tips in the form of shorter feature articles. It is a must to provide content of high quality in order to create an effective following.

E-newsletters can also make use of graphical components to make it attractive to readers. Product pictures or any other forms of graphics that would give your potential customers an idea of what the products look like or what they are all about. These pictures can be placed in strategic areas of the layout to create interest and eye-appeal.

Furthermore, your e-newsletter should contain information that recipients will consider useful. You have to make sure that the recipients will be interested in the products or services that you are promoting. These should be subscribers who have requested to receive your mailings. Otherwise, your e-zine will be considered spam and end up being deleted right away. It would be a good thing to ask both your customers and potential customers if they would want to receive more information so that you won't be wasting your effort sending e-newsletters to uninterested parties.
