Have you ever considered marketing your book or e-book online? If you are a writer, I'm sure this has crossed your mind, and if you own a blog, I'm sure you've blogged about your book. The question is; is it working? Indeed, one way to get the word out about your book is to write online articles, as long as you are writing articles online about your subject matter, or book, you may as well post those articles at the top online article directories, and also post them on your blog.
Not long ago I read an interesting article on this subject. It was a short article, but very much to the point and it was written by both a blogger and a book writer, or author. Let's discuss this.
In an article in October of 2008 in Writer's Digest by M.J. Rose wrote a great straight forward "how to" piece in the book marketing section in back simply titled; "Blogging" and let me give you the author's take on marketing a book or eBook using a blog. First, the writer of this excellent piece suggests a non-fiction book can get a lot more traction than a fictional work.
For a fictional writer, you'll really have to work at it, but there are several examples of successful book marketing in this venue by some very good selling authors of fictional books. The article writer also explains that it is a huge time commitment to use this marketing method to sell books.
Now then, I'd like to discuss other ways to market books and ebooks and see what you think. Why not make a YouTube video of a reading of a chapter of your book? Not long ago, I noted an individual who hadn't yet completed their book, but did one chapter, read that chapter in an online YouTube video. It was excellently done, and I felt compelled to e-mail it to friends.
We've already discussed the concept of writing online articles. And why not see if you can get some of those online articles and try to get traction in local magazines, book club websites, or as guest blogs for someone else's blog. When marketing your book or e-book using the blogosphere makes sense, and no, I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket, but blogging is so inexpensive, you'd be silly not to do at least some blogging about your book. Indeed, I hope you will please consider this, and I hope that it helps you sell more books.
