Making Your Keywords Work in Articles

Expert Author Steve Duval

An article rich with keywords is an excellent way to draw the kind of attention one wants to their website. There does exist a comfortable balance between a keyword-stuffed article and natural writing. Creating the latter will give web surfers reason to visit your content and possibly provide links back to the content from their own website.

Creating a High Quality Keyword Rich Article.

The primary word in the subtitle above is quality. If too many keywords are present in a text then Google will penalize it. The algorithm may view it as just an attempt at buffering up one's Page Rank. It is important to remember that the primary goal of a search engine is to provide pertinent, useful information to the user.

Preparation.

Build a list of words that would lead searchers to that particular content. The easiest way to accomplish this is to simply put you in the searcher's shoes. What would I type into a search engine to find the information I am going to present? Then you can build a list from what you came up with.

Writing the Article.

That list should be in the back of your mind as you write. Do not focus on getting them into the text yet. Simply write what you have to say naturally. Once finished, you can go back and count the number of times your chosen words were used. If you are not satisfied with the density of your chosen words, you can go back and edit the text to include it in the final draft.

Finishing Up.

From your list you will want to choose a couple of primary keywords. These words you will want to have an approximate 1-2% density through the writing. Use your primary keywords in the article title, preferably towards the beginning of it. Sprinkling in additional industry-specific terminology in lower densities will help draw a wider audience to your work.

Understanding the difference in approaches will help you create quality work and grow traffic to the host. Your goal is to write to appeal to human eyes while still being attractive to search engine-indexing bots. These few simple tips can help you create quality work and bring your target demographic to you.
