As your baby begins to get older they will be starting to crawl and walk this is an amazing time in their lives as they are full of adventure. Its also amazing for us parents to see her child develop and start to explore around their environment. Its essential that you do a number of teams around your home to ensure their safety. Remember they do not understand the difference between what is safe and what is unsafe so it's up to you as a parent to start baby proofing your home.
As they become more adventurous wanting you will most definitely need is a baby gate to protect them from climbing the stairs or falling down the stairs. Its essential that you have one for each end so they cannot access the stairs from either side. There are a variety of gates available from many different manufacturers. Some people recommend that you use a hardware mounting and do not choose the expandable pressure bar type.
This is especially the case for the top-end upstairs because it means if a fault against it the pressure bar will not give way. You do need to ensure every now and again that these are still tight. I know from experience that you need to check these every couple of weeks to make sure that the pressure is still okay. Maybe its just from generally use and possibly your baby swinging at these causes them to become a little bit loose after a while.
It really all depends on the layout of your home because sometimes hardware mountings are simply not possible. Its just a matter of ensuring that the gate at chop off your stairs has been securely fixed. There are a number of different types of gates on the market and you will come across things like mesh panels, vertical rail, and vertical bars. Some homes also have extra white space and you can buy extension kits for baby gates.
These kits of course to add a little bit more expense to the overall costs but if it is to ensure your child's safety this should not be an issue. You always need to make sure that the gate is secure and sturdy before you let your baby loose at them. You know they are going to be very curious of these at first and will start to test them it's really all a game in the beginning so you really need to make sure that they are secure and that you do a bit of supervision.
