People who own websites are frequently looking for ideas for their websites that can make money. There are many ways to “monetize” a website, so that it can put some money into your bank account. Once the site is monetized, using whatever means the webmaster feels is profitable for him or her, the site must gain traffic. If people don’t visit a site, there is no way to make money from it.
The first thing to do is to figure out what the subject of your site is. What types of people would find it informative or fun or what have you. What is the “targeted market” for the website? Once you have figured out who these people are, you (as webmaster) must go to where these people are. The Internet is a very large place, and millions of people “hang out” online. But not all of these folks are going to be interested in your website. Many people don’t speak or read the same language you do! Once you have figured out what types of people might be interested in your site, you must go to where the interested people are.
Are there forums dedicated to the subject matter that is presented on your website? You can find out pretty easily by typing into Google: “forums+mysubjectmatter”. Once you have found several forums dedicated to your website’s subject matter, take the time to register for the forums. Many of them will allow you have a “signature” that includes a link to your website. The ones that do are very handy; create a signature line and then start posting. Don’t spam the forums or try to draw attention to your signature line. Use a “hook sentence” in your signature for that. Add value to the forum; answer questions that people might have. Help them out. Get the participants to like you. Under no circumstances should you participate in fights or arguments on the forum. Stay “above the fray”.
Become a valuable member of several forums dedicated to your subject matter, and you should begin to see more traffic to your website. Once the visitors have accessed your site, they can buy your product, click your ads from Google, or whatever means you have set up to make money from your website.
