You want to make him feel loved, but will he love you in return? What about those dating advice gurus who warn you to not show your true feelings for a guy until he shows his? What if you tell him how you feel and he doesn't feel the same? There's a right way and a wrong way to display your feelings about a guy. Learn them both and you can make him feel loved and he will love you in return.
Either you got bad advice or you misinterpreted their words when the dating advice guru told you not to show your true feelings. If a guy doesn't feel that you can love him, he is not going to try very hard to catch you or to keep you. Show him your feelings in little ways. For every gesture of affection he gives you, give him one in return. If he is the "strong and silent type," you may need to test the emotional waters by letting him know you care first. The way he responds will tell you what to do next. If he opens up to you, then encourage him to open up more.
What you don't want to do is overwhelm him with your love. That's what they mean when they tell you to hide your feelings. Girls are much more emotional than men. Show him all your love at once and it's like sticking his finger into an electrical outlet. It will either knock him unconscious or send him running away in terror. You want to make him feel loved, not knocked off his feet!
Whatever you do, don't tell him how you feel about him until after he tells you first. Give him the confidence he needs to say the words, "I love you." Even if he truly loves you, the words will stick in his throat and he won't be able to say them back to you in a heartfelt way. You may have to wait, but like a dam that reaches bursting point, his emotions will spill out eventually.
While you are waiting, show your affection all the time. Gauge his feelings and work with them. When he needs his space, give it to him. When you need yours, take it - this will be good for you and will make him miss you. Then, when he needs love, make him feel loved and he will love you in return and you will have your heart's desire.
