Alkalinity - This is a term used when water is able to resist changes in pH level in the water. This is also known as KH buffering. Alkalinity is also used to measure the level of bicarbonate and carbonate ion concentration in the water. A good level of alkalinity level is 100 of 300 ppm, ppm stands for Parts Per Million. When your pond is on this level, then it should be able to provide great buffering and produce a much more stable pH.
Determining the alkalinity of your aquarium is very important. An aquarium with a high level of pH will result in possible death of a fish. Even the small stuff like this would affect the fish's health. It is therefore important to take special care for your fish pond to ensure a healthy fish.
