Name badges and name tags with a unique twist are a little hard to come by. I'd say that 98% of the ones worn in hotels, doctor's offices, restaurants and dental offices are pretty standard; in other words, boring. To my way of thinking, if you're going to wear something to promote either yourself or your business, it should have a little pizzazz! A creative custom name badge is the perfect way to do this.
If you're telling someone your name via a name badge, you're expecting them to look at it and make a connection between those words and who they're speaking with. Of course that's obvious. But why not give that potential or actual customer a little more information about you than just your name? In other words, humanize yourself and become more approachable. Make that badge a little bit memorable. For instance, if you love animals, wear a name tag with a dog and cat on it!
What in the world am I talking about, you ask? Here's an example. Back in the deco years of the 1920s and all the way through much of the 1950s, even everyday objects had a creative or artistic look to them. Workmen didn't just slap up plain molding on a building. The molding had curlicues and sometimes designs worked in to create an interesting pattern. Even fuse boxes in people's homes were attractive! Light fixtures had beautiful shapes, even the ones that no one was supposed to see, buried in the back hallway. Soda pop bottles were attractive. You see where I'm going here?
When I see a plain cheap plastic name badge I wonder why the business even bothered creating them for their employees. At least put your logo on there! Unique Name badges can tell a lot more about you than just your name.
But there's more you can do than that. You just have to think a little outside the box.
Here are a few ideas:
• Stainless steel or brass plates instead of plastic
• Badges with an artistic or unusual addition
• Badges personalized to show position in the company or clinic
After all, we're unique individuals. The difference between us is more than just a name! Do your employees have pets at home? What's their favorite animal? Especially if the business is animal related, like a veterinary practice or a groomer's shop, you can really play this for all it's worth by incorporating an animal into the design.
Pediatric and dental offices have a great opportunity here to get their clients to relax and maybe even get a little smile out of them. Give your customer or patient something to ask you about; start a conversation with him or her and suddenly the attention is on something besides their worry or pain.
Name badges and name tags can be an object of delight and interest. Think outside the box and become more memorable to your clients.
