Products

Maakoa calls it's juice Koopuwa. The juice is based on fruit called Cupuacu which is found in the Amazon Basin in Brazil's rainforest.

The juice provides vitamins B1, B2, B3 and essential fat and amino acids. The seed of the fruit contains a sweet smelling white butter like substance that makes excellent white chocolate.

Besides containing koopuwa, the juice also contains a blend of Acai Berry, Pomegranate and Blueberry. Though the koopuwa fruit is mainly unknown outside of Brazil, the usage of this fruit in network marketing companies will increase it's visibility and usage. Fruta Vida which is another network marketing company also uses this fruit in one of it's juice products.

Currently, the main known source of cupuacu is Brazil which may severely limit it's expansion as an ingredient in various products. However, it has been introduced into the humid tropical areas of Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. So it is possible that if demand for this fruit remains strong, it's production could be expanded into other tropical areas worldwide. Unfortunately, tropical areas are diminishing every day due to global warming and deforestation.

The most serious disease facing the production of this fruit is the dreaded witches broom fungus which is endemic in Brazil. The trees are not killed outright but rather are weakened which reduces the amount of fruit produced. Pruning the affected branches will help control this disease.
