Landrover have over the years become an International brand, not just within celebrity circles and households across the world but also with charitable foundations and organisations that use these vehicles for their absolute off-roading ability.
After partnering with the Born Free Foundation the Landrover brand has supported numerous projects (to name just a few) including the Elephant Ambulance in Sri Lanka, the 'Anti-poaching' activities in Kenya and also a Royal Geographical event in 2009, with a main focus on 'Elephants: the big picture'.
On the 14th November 2009, Born Free's concert in aid of Wildlife was an event not to be missed with international stars attending the evening of music, songs, comedy and dance it was no wonder that the charity event raised not only the profile of the Born Free Foundation but also the vital funds needed to save the lives of 25,000 wild animals.
Special guests included singer Gabriella Cilmi, Kiki Dee, Nick Knowles, Peter Andre and Bryan Adams with Joanna Lumley amongst the crowd as a special guest. She was there to receive, on behalf of the Born Free Foundation, a Landrover Discovery 3. This particular car was in fact the 4,000,000 model to come off the Landrover assembly line in 68 years and will be used as a rapid response vehicle for Born Frees' Wildlife Conservation projects across Europe.
Landrover bosses even commented that amazingly 75 per cent of the classic Landrover 4x4s were still actually on the road and that the British brand has produced over 4,000,000 vehicles which include 1.9 million Defenders. The Defender model can retrace its roots right back to the early days of 1948 which just goes to show the longevity of the brand.
