Do you know what men want, or are your ideas about guys merely love myths? What do you think you know that might really be mistaken? Would you like to understand your new guy better, and perhaps build a stronger relationship? Read on to find out about three love myths that women should learn about.
Myth #1 - Men are less sentimental than women.
In some ways, this might be true. Men don't tend to go for chick flicks or cutesy gestures. However, it is a big mistake to assume that this means that men are more unfeeling than women are.
Men often do feel things very deeply. They simply are frequently less expressive than many women are used to. Sometimes, they reveal their feelings in much more subtle ways than many women give them credit for.
Myth #2 - Men need to be guided into commitment.
The cliché view of men and women is that women want to settle down, and men are too afraid of commitment. Women need to push them into it, whether they want to settle down or not. It isn't uncommon to hear women joke about having to "train" men to behave in a relationship.
The jokes can hide a real belief that it is really a woman's job to direct and nurture the relationship. If a man is not ready for a commitment, then there is something wrong with this that needs to be worked on. It is just fine for a woman to wait or work to change him. However, this is one of the major love myths, because men are individuals with minds of their own, and should be respected as such.
Myth #3 - Men don't need reassurance.
Men are supposed to be strong and steady. They are expected to be there for women when the women are having a hard time. But men need attention too. Just as in point number one, men might not show what they are feeling, but that doesn't mean that they don't feel.
Men tend to be sensitive without showing their insecurities or their needs. This means that a woman who can be intuitive about giving him compliments and reassurances will really be appreciated.
