Lorain County is located in the State of Ohio. It was founded on December 22, 1822 and is named after the French province of Lorraine by early settler Heman Ely. The county is a part of what is locally known as Greater Cleveland. The largest community of the county is the Lake Erie Port City of Lorain. The county seat is Elyria.

Lorain County divorce records are maintained by county's Vital Records department. The policy concerning maintenance and distribution of divorce records varies in each state as every state has its own set of rules and regulations.

Earlier, you would be required to personally visit the office of the Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas and make a formal request to obtain the divorce data. Today, you can obtain these data without making any formal request.

Besides, Lorain County divorce records were earlier maintained strictly as physical files and were also harder to obtain. You were required to visit the local county clerk office a number of times and wait for months to receive the divorce documents. But now, the local government has made these records available to common public. Hence, you can access the desired information in less time. You'll just need to furnish certain information about the person whose information you wish to obtain. You may also have to inform the county staff about your purpose for obtaining this data. The Lorain county staff will then search for the records by first and the last name of the person whose information you require.

In fact, by loading the required information through Internet, the Clerk's office can provide you the information on weekends and holidays too. You need to know that the time slot between 8-10 am from Monday-Friday is blocked off for ticketing and docking purpose. Hence, you won't obtain the desired information during this time slot in person. If required, you can also obtain a notarized copy of the divorce record from the county's clerk office.

You can also obtain Lorain County divorce records through the Internet.

You can get unlimited information about Lorain County divorce records for a minimal amount.
