The small market town of Alnwick can be found in the Northumberland area of England. Stated as being one of the most picturesque locations and the best place to live in the country. That was according to Country Life back in October of 2002.

Only a short 32 miles from the border of Scotland, and five miles away from the North Sea, it makes a very beautiful setting. If you were to travel to this location you could see not only a lot of medieval historical site, but many other things.

First growing up as a location that thrived on agriculture, and around since about 600 A. D. In this location you will have found a place that held many battles, including the first and second battles of Alnwick.

It was in this area that Malcolm III of Scotland would be killed, and there is a gross that is placed in the area. Also a tablet for the spot that William the Lion would be captured. If you visit this spot a look at Alnwick Castle is a must. Plus there are other sites besides the markings we listed above. One such site is the Alnwick Garden which pretty much dominates the whole west side of the town.

In the town center you will find the marketplace. Many shopping streets are located around that area. During the medieval times this city would have been walled, but only one remains to date. That is where you will find Hotspur Tower, which is a medieval gate.

At the castle it has been used in past movies the likes of Blackadder, Harry Potter, and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. The museum in town hosts a lot of historical items and should also be a stop on a visit. While Brizlee tower is another spot that should be looked at too.

Yet another historic location in England that is beautiful and should be seen.
