Liposuction - Even the Face Benefits From Liposuction

The hips and thighs are the only parts of the body that benefit from a little liposuction. It can also be used on those stubborn fatty deposits around the face, neck and chin. You know the look- droopy jowls, double chin and puffy eyes. The fat makes you look old, bloated and tired. Facial liposuction can remove these deposits, slim up your face and take some years off.

A small incision is made so the surgeon can insert a micro-cannula into the treatment area. A cannula is the tiny vacuum tube used to suction out the fat. For the chin area, he has the option of external incisions or in the mouth through the gums. There are pros and cons of either site.

Typically, the tumescent technique is used for this procedure. This involves injecting the site with a solution of lidocaine and epinephrine. The solution serves as an additional anesthetic as well as a fat firming agent making removal easier. Facial liposuction is performed with a local anesthetic and a mild sedative. Because it is minimally invasive, riskier general anesthesia is not necessary.

Depending on how big the treatment are is, plan on at least an hour for the treatment. Because you only receive a mild sedative, you should be ready to leave the clinic soon after. It is still a good idea to have someone drive you though.

Unlike with major surgical procedures, recovery is quick and easy. You will have a little swelling and mild discomfort, but you should be able to resume your normal activities in within a week. Your final results will be visible sometime between the third and sixth month after the procedure. Recovery is also made easier because a general anesthesia is not necessary.

The small incisions, quick recovery and use of a local make it an attractive alternative to surgical procedures like a face or eye lift. In fact, men tend to opt for this procedure instead of major surgical procedure.

A possible complication with this procedure is that you may experience some numbness of the treated area. While this is somewhat common and eventually dissipates, it can become permanent. This happens because nerves have been damaged during the suction process. Another complication is too much fat removal in one area leaving behind a hollow pocket. This makes the face unbalanced.

Facial liposuction can be done as a single procedure or it can be used in combination with other facial surgeries to enhance the results of a lift. A consultation with your board certified plastic surgeon will let you know if you will benefit from it alone or if you need more aggressive procedures to achieve the results you want.

Facial liposuction is a relatively simple procedure that can rejuvenate and slim the face.

With facial liposuction, San Francisco based surgeons can reduce the stubborn fatty deposits around the face, neck and chin. To slim up your face and take some years off, visit http://www.drkim.com
