A game of nobles
Cricket was a game of the nobles. Cricketers were revered and respected like the great heroes. They were considered the representative of their country. Cricket was a pure game. People watch the cricket for fun and enjoyment. The element of sobriety was considered the main value of the game. Light and pleasant jokes were exchanged by the players. Sportsmanship was the lesson of the game. The spectators were the people of serious attitude. The empires were not feared but respected. The management was like the passionate teachers. A picnic like mood was the main atmosphere. All the human values were cared and observed.
LOVE AND HONOR
The element of glamour was not the centre of the game. Players were not bought by the multinational companies for ad campaigns. The players were players not the actors. On the contrary an element of sobriety was spread all over the game. Cricket was considered cricket not a movie. The players were disciplined and play for the sake of their honor .the reverence for the dear homeland was the top priority of the players and the managements of the teams.
PRESENT SCENARIO
The game of cricket has changed its values and format. The players are not like the players of 70,s and 80, s.camera lights and the multinational companies and the heap of the sports channels has increased the quantity of the cricket. The quality is retarding constantly and through out the world.
Lights cameras and cricket:
The element of glamour has increased manifold. If we want to compare the film industry and cricket industry, we find a lot of similarities. We have to replace or change a few characters and cricket industry would present the picture of a film production unit. Except these every other trait is present in abundance in cricket.
An action thriller
Caste a cursory glance at the star players of the world of cricket and you will find great talents fit for the silver screen. Every cricketer is closer to acting than cricket. Not to speak of those cricketers who abjured the cricket and found refuge in the laps of the heroines. They are worthy of praise because they found them unfit for the game and adopted a new profession.
Replace the coach with director, manager with the site manager and in the same way the chairman into producer of this pseudo-drama. The limelight has taken the place of floodlight. The cricketers are more actors and less cricketers. They are the super stars of this tragic drama of the cricket. They have come in this profession just to express their abilities of acting.
Conclusion
Present day cricket is the name of glamour. It is not just cricket. It is the best source of betting book making and gambling. The famous players are the friends of gamblers and bookies. If the trend continues the days are not far when cricket would be pasteurized and should be shown in cinemas not in the play grounds.
