Moving can be a real pain. Not only do you have to take everything you own and physically move it to another home, you've got to sell your home first. That means you need to de-clutter your home, ridding it of anything that takes up space without adding to the overall look of the home. After all, the prospective buyers don't want to see a home filled up with all of your stuff, they want to see the potential that a home holds for them. Another sort of pain that moving can bring is the sort of pain that will land you in a Peotone hospital if you're not careful. It is the pain of slipped discs and torn rotator cuffs. It is the sort of pain that you can get if you're not careful when lifting boxes and furniture from one house to the next.
So how do you move all of the things in your house and keep your body safe? Follow some simple rules and you'll spend less time in Peotone Illinois healthcare and more time enjoying your new home. The first rule is the one that you've probably heard all your life: lift with your legs. It is a simple rule, but it's hard to follow. Many of us are so used to lifting things by any means necessary that we find ourselves bending at the waist to pick things up all the time. It is bad enough when you lean over to grab a pencil that slipped out of your hand, but what about when you pick up a crate of books? The pressure that this maneuver puts on your spine is incredible, and should be avoided at all costs. Instead, bending at the legs and lifting with the powerful leg muscles should be what you are doing.
Another rule to follow is to get help. Many of us think that we can do everything ourselves. Instead of waiting for help, we lug heavy mattresses up staircases and try to bring wooden desks through doorways all by ourselves. Why not get a friend or family member to help you out and save the aches and pains? Sure, you could still drop a couch on your foot and end up in a Peotone Illinois hospital, but the chances of getting hurt are much smaller if you have help. In addition, you've got someone to help you remember the occasion of moving, which can be a really big step in your life. It is not a time to remember how you hurt your back!
