Life is rarely predictable. Sometimes others surprise us, and sometimes we surprise ourselves. That's why it is not uncommon for a woman who has undergone a sterility procedure to later decide that she wants to have another child. But the story doesn't end there. Modern science has effective solutions for those who live under these circumstances.
Tubal ligation reversal, also known as tubal reversal, is a procedure in which a woman's fallopian tubes are reconnected to the uterus so that they are once again able to conceive naturally. In essence, the fallopian tubes are repaired in such a way that allows for natural pregnancy to occur. There are several different methods of performing the procedure, including Microsurgery, Tubotubal Antasmosis, Tubouterine Implantation, Ampullary Salpingostomy, Mini-laparotomy, and Laparoscopic Tubal Reversal.
Tubal ligation patients wanting to bear more children are not limited to tubal reversal. In Vitro Fertilization is also a popular method of conceiving after the operation. In Vitro Fertilization is the insemination of an egg outside of the uterus. The fertilized egg is then placed into the womb for the fetus to develop. Because of the long and arduous process involved with In Vitro Fertilization, many patients only select it when tubal reversal is not an option.
Tubal Ligation is not the end of the road for childbirth. Women who have had the procedure have options for once again experiencing the joy of having a baby. Certain treatments work better for some women than others, so speaking with a trusted physician and approaching the choices carefully is key.
