Have you been with him for a while and you want to let him know you love him? Has he really come to be an important person in your life and you want to tell him how much he means to you? Are you afraid of how he might react to your declaration of love? While men do want to feel loved, knowing when and how much love to show can be a delicate balancing act. Showing too much affection after a short amount of time together can be creepy. Being too cold and aloof could become discouraging and he'll think you don't care about him at all. Here's how to find that perfect balance.
First, really look at the time you've spent with him and understand the emotions you're felling. Is this really love? Many women fall for the cute face and often imagine he has all the great qualities to go with it. We're really great at building up a fantasy hero who is perfect in every way. But we need to get real and look at the true man before us.
Once you realize it is true love and not just infatuation, let it show in increments that are relative to the time you've spent together. For instance, if his birthday is coming up and you've only been dating for a few months, you don't want to go and get him an elaborate and expensive gift. This can make for an awkward situation.
Let him know of your affections for him by being attentive. Listen to what he has to say and show him you're interested in what he has going on in his life. And if he's having problems and has been confiding in you, continue to foster that trust and let him know you're there for him. These are little things that will show him he matters to you.
Big displays of affection can backfire if he's not yet ready to reciprocate. You can feel uncomfortable while it can leave him feeling a bit pressured to feel more for you when he's not yet ready. Follow his lead if you're not sure how much you should show.
If he eagerly gives you a hug when greeting you, you know this type of display is okay with him. Take it slow as you show him you truly love him.
