A wonderful location is one that you will find at Southport. One that will have you busy from the moment you get there. It's another location that has a lot of past history in it too. There are several different locations that you should see while you're in this town.

Located only 16 miles from the Irish Sea, and fairly close to Liverpool too it's a great location. You can find Southport Pier located here. It's the second longest pier located in Britain. While Lord Street will offer you a wonderful place to shop, and where Napoleon III once called home.

There is also a fabulous fairground there that you can visit. There are a few examples of different periods of architecture that you can enjoy while in Southport. One is Victorian that will be found along Lord Street and many other locations.

While here you will also enjoy the view of many sand dunes that seem to stretch endlessly. In fact one the Ainsdale sand dunes have actually been named a National Nature Reserve. Founded in 1792 by William Sutton also known as "The Mad Duke".

Many locations are considered to be suburbs of Southport that you will find plenty to also keep busy in. It was on Lord Street where Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte would live, before he returned at a later time to France.

It was also in this location that the lifeboat disaster would happen in 1886. The ship which was hauling cargo had some problems while heading back to South America. Many lifeboats were sent out to try and rescue people aboard. The full St. Anne's lifeboat would be lost during the battle with high winds.

Locations that should be seen here besides Lord Street include Southport Pier, and Victoria Baths. And of course Pleasureland that reopened under new owners back in 2007.
