Learn Spanish Free, In Different Ways

I always have this fascination about other languages. I would usually stop when I hear someone talking in a different lingo and listen. I try to interpret the words on my own understanding. I also watch their actions so I can relate it to the words they are saying creating a better comprehension of what they are talking about. Because of that, I've decided to learn a new language, Spanish for starters. However, I am not in a Spanish-speaking country and I don't know any school offering lessons on foreign language. That is where my resourcefulness was put into use. I have found the following methods to learn Spanish.

• The library is the best place to look for all the information you need to learn including a new language. They have books and other media resources like videos and cds. During the day you can do the reading and spend some time before going to bed to listen to the tutorial videos.

• Look for resources in the radio or television. If you have a Spanish station on the radio or a station offering Spanish movies with subtitles, that is the first step. You can make yourself familiar with the language by spending time watching or listening. For the movies, you can pick up common words and expressions based on the subtitle or action of the characters. Spending at least 15-20 minutes per day is not bad.

• If you have Spanish speaking friends, you ask them to help you learn the language. Ask for simple words and phrases and try using it when you talk to them. They can immediately assist you in using it in sentences and correct you when you used it in an improper way.

• Try working as an English teacher for native speakers of Spanish. You can have a regular Spanish exposure. As you teach them, you can also learn something in return while being paid. Exchange conversations with them and try asking simple words. You will be surprised to find out that you have learned a lot from your students.

• Do translations of common words and conversational phrase and write them in an index cards or flash cards. Have the Spanish word on one side and write the English translation on the other side. Try reviewing the words during school breaks or trip to and from school. Add more words to your list to advance your knowledge.

• Once you have that database of words and phrases, use it as much as you can when you have an opportunity. Remember, application is where the real learning happens. Do not be scared of being corrected because it will give you more room for improvement.

• If you have the financial capacity, you might want to think about buying a software for learning a new language. Although there are available Spanish lessons in the internet for practice, it will not guarantee you a quality learning environment. So if you are serious about it, you can try a program or a software that can be installed in your computer for tutorial. You can buy these kind of program from software shops or through online shopping.
