Are you struggling with how to overcome low self esteem after a separation? No matter who's fault it was, when a relationship is over it can cause feelings of sadness, rejection and failure. These feelings of failure and rejection can cause low self esteem.

Self esteem is simply our own perception and personal view of ourselves. When the vision we have of ourselves is damaged through perceived failure and lack of support, the result is low self esteem. This is quite common after a separation.

Once low self esteem has been formed, it can affect all aspects of your life. The one that is affected the most is your relationships with others. You must be careful not to isolate yourself from others who may be able to help you. When you have low self esteem you tend to avoid social situations and then loneliness becomes a factor.

The main key to improving your self esteem is to control the way you talk to yourself. Negative self talk is the primary cause for continued low self esteem and loneliness. Here are a few tips to help improve your self esteem:

Be kind to yourself, don't put yourself down. Talk to yourself as you would talk to your best friend.

You should also surround yourself with positive people. It is also very important to be around people who support and lift you up, such as family and friends.

Participate in activities that you enjoy. Many times people with low self esteem stop doing the things they love to do. When you get involved in your favorite hobbies and activities again, it will help boost your low self esteem and curb your loneliness.

The solution for how to overcome low self esteem after a separation is to start taking corrective action immediately. You must change the way your mind perceives yourself. It can be turned around. You just need to know that you can overcome it - don't put it off - take action right away.
